These vibrant and wholesome grilled summer peaches get a healthy makeover and are fantastic on a summer night or fall evening.  Grilled, smoked, or roasted, these peaches are excellent served with non-dairy ice cream, yogurt, or whipped cream.  Garnish with fresh mint, maple syrup, roasted nuts, or granola.

Have you ever grilled fruit?  What’s your favorite?

You can grill any firm, ripe fruit to bring out their natural flavor and juiciness.  But the most popular options include pears, melon, avocado, pineapple, tomatoes, bananas, figs, pineapple, watermelon, and peaches.

Grilling is a great way to enhance the natural flavors and wholesomeness of fresh fruit.  Add in a hint of smokiness and a pinch of mystique and you easily create these sweet and juicy vibrant grilled peaches.

All of the grilled peach recipes I’ve come across call for butter or oil – some use as much as one cup of butter.  One cup!?!? Unlike some famous chefs, I honestly don’t think this is necessary.  In fact, I want my grilled peaches to taste like the fresh and vibrant summer treat that they are.

So let’s cover some key aspects to create these magnificent Grilled Peaches.

First, it’s important to clean your grill. If you don’t, your peaches may transfer some of the flavor from your last cooked meal. As an example, let’s say you just enjoyed some Impossible burgers for dinner. If you don’t clean your grill, chances are your grilled peaches are going to taste a whole lot like Impossible Burgers. I may or may not be speaking with experience.

Also, if your food items tend to stick on your grill, you probably need to rub a little oil on your grates after you clean your grates well.  This ensures your peaches don’t stick as they cook.  Not only will this ensure your cooking surface is clean and ready to grill your peaches, the grill marks will be more defined as well.

The key here is to preheat your grill.  It should be nice and hot when you add your peaches.  You should hear the peaches sizzle when they’re placed on the grates.  Oh, and resist the urge to turn them at all!!  Whatever you do, let the peach halves remain in place until they have beautiful char marks.

Oh! Do you know what the best part is?  (besides eating them, of course!)

These Easy and Wholesome Grilled Peaches don’t take very long to cook at all.  Depending on how hot your grill is, this can be as little as three minutes or as much as six minutes.  If your grill isn’t very hot, they will take longer to cook, may get mushy, or dry out too much.  So be sure to preheat your grill.

This may seem obvious, but the perfect time to grill these peaches is after you’ve already used your grill to cook your dinner.  That way, the coals are perfect for grilling.  You may need to stir them a little to release a bit more heat. My peaches are ready in about five minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

This makes these Grilled Peaches a perfect camping recipe for a number of reasons.

  1. They’re super easy.
  2. Whole peaches require no refrigeration.
  3. Peaches are great over hot coals, open flame, or in a smoker.
  4. You can use charcoal, wood, propane, fire pit with grate, or an electric smoker.

To capture the peach’s natural essence, I opt for just a little coconut sugar and a pinch of cinnamon.  You can also use date sugar or raw organic cane sugar. This way, your grilled peaches aren’t overly sweet and don’t char too quickly on the grill.

As I’ve stated, these peaches are incredible on a grill, but you can get similar results with a smoker, hot charcoal, or wood coals.  We have an electric smoker so that’s typically what we use.  And I think the results are fantastic.

If you don’t have a grill or smoker or you can’t light any fires in your area, you can certainly roast these Easy and Wholesome Grilled Peaches under your broiler as well. Simply place the peach halves facing up on a lined sheet pan and place it under the broiler until golden (3-5 minutes).  Keep an eye on your peaches so they don’t burn!! They may not get those pretty grate marks, but they’ll still taste delicious.

You can also roast these peach halves in an air fryer, though it will depend on your air fryer – there are so many different models and styles (baskets vs racks vs trays).  Just be sure to set it for 350° Fahrenheit and check on them frequently so they don’t dry out or burn.

To garnish these Grilled Peaches, consider fresh mint leaves or a sprinkling of cinnamon with granola or roasted nuts over top.

I love that there are so many delicious ways to serve and enjoy these Easy and Wholesome Grilled Peaches! They’re fantastic with a little maple syrup drizzled over top.  To make these hot peaches even more delectable, serve them with non-dairy ice cream, whipped cream, or yogurt.

These Easy and Wholesome Grilled Peaches are best served right away.  But if you do have any leftover peaches, store them in an air-tight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.

They’re a fantastic addition to oatmeal or overnight oats; aside toast, pancakes, waffles; or in salads.

I hope you enjoy these Easy and Wholesome Grilled Peaches as much as I do.

  2. In a small bowl, stir together the cinnamon, coconut sugar, and salt (if using) until combined.
  1. Lightly sprinkle the peach halves with the coconut sugar until evenly coated.

Notes

* This recipe doesn’t require any oil.  However, if your foods tend to stick to your grill or pan, use a nonstick spray or oil first.  Also, if roasting in the oven, use a lined baking sheet to avoid sticking.

And be careful not to let your peaches stay on the grill or in the oven too long; otherwise, they start to dry out too much or overcook.  They should be tender and juicy, not mushy or dry.
